Team-To-One™ Approach
In addition to our research-validated approaches, nothing differentiates Langsford Learning Acceleration Centers from other resources more than the involvement of the entire staff with each client. In implementing a plan of action, many staff members work with a client and we share sessions experiences and insights to efficiently move through the action plan.
This cooperative effort draws on the perspectives and abilities of a team of experts. This is why we like to say our work is Team-To-One™, because many people are involved in carrying out a client’s plan. Our Team-To-One™ approach also extends to the family and beyond. (see Parent Involvement).
The methods we use are not “courses” or curricula, or worksheets our clients work through. Each client is unique, so goals are reached at an individual pace. Just as no two clients are at the same level when evaluated, neither are two clients likely to respond to learning sessions in exactly the same way. In short, our Team-To-One™ approach keeps the Langsford team focused on the success of the individual client.
A client’s work begins with a Learning Coordinator who writes the client’s plan of action and instructs instructors in the plan’s implementation. The Learning Coordinator observes sessions and updates the plan of action approximately every three to four session hours. In regularly scheduled staff meetings, the Learning Coordinator and the instructor team review the progress made during learning sessions.
After approximately every 20 hours of learning sessions, the Learning Coordinator updates clients, parents, classroom teachers, and other professionals on progress and concerns. In many ways, these meetings are as important as the one-to-one learning sessions because they enable us to make refinements, discuss and address concerns, and explore methods to maximize the effectiveness of each session and the overall plan of action.
The staff involvement is further reflected in carefully planned visits to a client’s classroom. These visits help establish a dialog with classroom teachers and give teachers an opportunity to offer input for a client’s plan of action. At the same time, the visits help us gauge the impact of our work on a client’s classroom performance.
When clients are nearing the end of their work at Langsford Learning Acceleration Center, an assessment of progress is administered to measure specific gains. This also offers us the opportunity to share information with classroom teachers and other professionals to ensure continuity between the progress made at Langsford and outside work.
