Team-To-One™ Approach

In addition to our research-based approaches, nothing differentiates Langsford Learning Acceleration Centers from other resources more than the involvement of the entire staff with each client.  In implementing a plan of action, many staff members work with a client, and everyone has input.

This cooperative effort draws on the perspectives and abilities of a team of experts. This is why we like to say our work is Team-To-One™, because many people are involved in carrying out a client’s plan.  Our Team-To-One™ approach also extends to the family and beyond.  (see Parent Involvement)

The methods we use are not “courses” or curricula our clients work through. Each client is unique, so goals are reached at an individual pace. Just as no two clients are at the same level when evaluated, neither are two clients likely to respond to learning sessions in exactly the same way.  In short, our Team-To-One™ approach keeps the Langsford team focused on the success of the individual client.

A client’s work begins with a Learning Coordinator who writes the client’s plan of action and instructs instructor in the plan’s implementation. The Learning Coordinator observes sessions and updates the plan of action approximately every three to four session hours. In regularly scheduled staff meetings, the Learning Coordinator and the instructor team review the progress made during learning sessions.

After approximately every 20 hours of learning sessions, the Learning Coordinator updates clients, parents, classroom teachers, and other professionals on progress and concerns.  In many ways, these meetings are as important as the one-to-one learning sessions because they enable us to make refinements, discuss and address concerns, and explore methods to maximize the effectiveness of each session and the overall plan of action.

The staff involvement is further reflected in carefully planned visits to a client’s classroom. These visits help establish a dialog with classroom teachers and give teachers an opportunity to offer input for a client’s plan of action. At the same time, the visits help us gauge the impact of our work on a client’s classroom performance.

When clients are nearing the end of their work at Langsford Learning Acceleration Center, an assessment of progress is administered to measure specific gains. This also offers us the opportunity to share information with classroom teachers and other professionals to ensure continuity between the progress made at Langsford and outside work.

Learning abilities acquired here are internalized.  A typical student leaves with intact learning processes, without the need for continued intervention or content tutoring.

"Thanks again for your contribution to my child's success story!   At each grading period of my daughter's school career, my thoughts go to Langsford...  She was able to achieve a 4.14 GPA this quarter in her Freshman year...  For a child who wasn't really reading until 3rd grade, this is a success story! She is reaching her potential and it is a joy to watch!"  Lynn, Parent & Public School Educator

"...There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about the great outcome (my son) has had from his time there. It has changed his life in so many ways. He is turning 17 Saturday and he is inviting about 11 kids over for a "Risk" tournament. Several new friends are on the list from school. It has helped him academically as well. He got all A's this quarter and is so confident now. ... Hope the word (about Langsford) continues to get out."  Marilyn

"The only place in town that does what you do!" Paula, daughter age 8, son 9.

"My son didn't need content tutoring, he needed to develop his reading skills.  Thank You!  Mary, son 10
